Preparing your bathroom for Spring

We are finally coming out of the cold winter, able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, where daffodils are amongst us and the sun will once again fill our living rooms. The bloom of flowers give us all a new lease of life and energy; so, why not apply the same freshness to your bathroom?

Clean

Let’s start with the most obvious and important change that you can make to your bathroom; clean and declutter. Over the winter months, you will find yourself collecting things, making your bathroom warmer, cozier and winter friendly. Now is the optimum time to let your bathroom breathe; every spring clean starts with decluttering; throwing away any leftover bottles, extra toiletries that aren’t being used and any old dirty towels. Then it’s time to get down and dirty; remove your blinds, any removable fixtures and deep clean your entire bathroom, remember to open all of your windows to get some much needed fresh air inside circulating the room. It will clean up any mildew that has developed over the winter months.

Update

One of the easiest yet most effective ways to immediately add freshness to your bathroom is to replace the little features throughout; taps, showerheads, toilet seat, shower curtain, bathmat. Adding some spring colour through your shower curtain and bath mat will add a brightness to your bathroom, whilst replacing your taps and toilet seat with more modern and sleek models will give off the impression of a newly installed bathroom. Replacing the shower head will have a great impact on your daily shower, with a clean, strong water delivery every morning, you will immediately feel fresher.

One with nature

Plants are everywhere in home interior updates this year and for the foreseeable future. Whether you get some potted plants, pick some wild spring flowers or get a fresh bunch from the local florist; adding some nature into the bathroom will do wonders for the atmosphere of the room. Many plants such as succulents and orchids will thrive off a humid climate, making the bathroom the perfect home for them. If you’re just not the plant type of person, why not buy some eucalyptus; when added to a steamy bathroom, it releases a beautiful scent, which incidentally is great for your health. Eucalyptus will also dry out naturally, leaving you with a care-free solution for adding some nature to your bathroom.

Colour

Adding colour to your bathroom may seem like a risky move for many, as so many bathrooms are adorned in natural hues nowadays. However, the rise of the one wall trend is still amongst us, meaning you can add a burst of colour on just one wall to immediately update your room. Going for more natural colours is always wise within bathrooms, so if you have a white bathroom, why not try adding a green, blue or grey wall? If a coloured wall seems too daunting to change, why not choose a main colour and run it through your bedroom accessories. You can update your bath mat, towels, blinds, shower curtain and accessories to be varying shades of green, adding some character to your bathroom, which is so often a room that goes untouched when it comes to decoration.

Storage

Once you’ve decluttered and tidied your bathroom, you should aim to keep it this way for the rest of the year… which is harder said than done. The best solution to avoid de-cluttering is to get yourself some storage that has the space to accumulate all you hoard over the year. From decorative boxes to mini drawers, there are so many options. Why not try one of our bathroom cabinets; our range of mirrored cabinets are the best space savers, whilst adding a premium look to your bathroom… what more could you want?

With all of these simple, yet effective ways to update your bathroom, with very little cost, there is nothing stopping you from turning your bathroom from drab to fab in no time at all.
