Our Top 3 Eco-Friendly Bathroom Products

Let’s be honest, the amount of water we use in our bathrooms on a daily basis is rather sobering.

The roommate who insists on drawing a bath every day, the other half who leaves that tap running every time they brush their teeth and the sheer volume of water expelled by that ‘waterfall’ shower you thought was such a good idea at the time.

It’s a lot of water, and we’re sure that if you were to measure flow rate multiplied by running time, the results would be pretty scary from an eco-friendly perspective (let’s be frank, no one wants a sky-high water bill either…)

Dual flush toilets may have become a household staple, you know – there’s a 1 or 2 flush function if you get what we mean, but really all they do is give us a little more toilet control whilst we continue to burn energy with lighting and high water consumption.

But don’t worry, in order to go greener you don’t need to restrict your showers to 4 seconds or for-go on the flush, there’s literally a whole market of eco-friendly and stylish products available that focus on design and style as much as those green credentials.

We’ve highlighted some of our must-haves, but please let us know on Facebook or Twitter if there’s something really innovative that we’re missing from our favourites, composting toilets might not be our forte, but it’s always interesting to hear the more ‘niche’ suggestions!

LED Bathroom Mirrors

Now we don’t want to bore you with the details, but LED lighting is head and shoulders above traditional lighting on the energy front – LEDs are even recyclable. Traditional light bulbs basically lose a significant amount of electrical energy just through heat loss (up to 80% in some cases), whereas LED lighting utilises electricity much more efficiently to convert the vast majority of the energy input into light energy. LED lighting also has a much longer life, one of the many reasons we’ve utilised them in our range of illuminated mirrors.

From our shaver and slimline ranges to our LED Hollywood mirrors, we’ve utilised LED lighting to full to combine style and substance. We can’t promise you’ll be able to buy a new car with the utility bill savings, but it certainly helps whilst making your bathroom look stylish too!

The ‘Recycling’ Shower

Fancy rinsing your hair with the water you’ve just used to lather up in? Before you forever banish the thoughts of the recyclable shower from your mind, hear us out, because this water-renewing shower has a sophisticated filter and pasteurisation system, that’s right, just like milk! The filtration process takes less than 25 seconds and don’t worry, by assigning each user with 3 litres of water at the start of each shower, you won’t ever run the risk of showering with someone else’s water!

The Humble Extractor Fan

We just had to include this energy-saving tip which you probably already have in your bathroom – the simple bathroom extractor fan! An extractor fan works by gently warming air passing into the room (as well as removing condensation of course) so you benefit from decreased heating costs just by utilising that little device a bit more frequently. It’s also possible to opt for an extractor fan with heat recovery, this actually takes the heat from warm, wet air and uses it to heat incoming air! Surprisingly intelligent for a product we don’t associate with innovation…

We might not be able to help you out with the recyclable shower, but we do have a beautiful range of LED illuminated mirrors for you to choose from!
