The Illuminated Mirrors Story

Quality from the start

Illuminated Mirrors was started in 2008 by Jamie Bell in his home town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire. At the time, he had just completed refurbishing his bathroom, and he noticed manufacturers were starting to create bathroom mirrors and cabinets using the new LED light technology. However, many of these products seemed to be cheaply-made and not likely to last. Having always believed that quality design is crucial for household products, he reasoned that he could do better. He made a prototype and invested in a trial batch of illuminated mirrors. The reaction to these products was incredibly positive, so the foundations for a brand new business were set.

A successful launch

Jamie had successfully created and run several businesses using the internet to market and sell products entirely online. With the tools and skills he had learned, it was a straightforward move into this new field. Jamie's online experience proved pivotal as he named the site "Illuminated Mirrors" which reflected the honesty and "no-nonsense" approach of both the products and the company.

In the latter months of 2008, the Illuminated Mirrors website was launched and was soon dealing with a high demand for LED illuminated mirrors and cabinets.

Rapid growth

Success led to growth, and Jamie quickly developed the product range and company to a point where suitable premises were required to deal with the volume of orders. The company's home in Westbury, Wiltshire now houses product development, glass working, metal fabrication and assembly departments together with a large 33,000sqft warehouse. Illuminated Mirrors has underlined its commitment to local people by qualifying for the prestigious "Made In Britain" award while remaining in the local area.
