Bathroom Inspiration to ‘Floor’ You!

Firstly we’d like to apologise for that appalling joke before swiftly moving on to the most stylish topic of the week; stunning bathroom floors that look fantastic and won’t cost the earth.

Because believe it or not, there are so many more choices other than pretty square/ rectangular tiles, wooden boards and dare we say it, temperamental lino. From traditional wooden flooring that’s made a roaring comeback to metal and rubber tiles, we’ve collated the weird and wonderful to bring you a little inspiration that’ll go beyond your average bathroom brochure.

As always, we’d absolutely love to see your pictures too, so if you’ve got a bathroom with truly unique features then please send us your images and we’ll pop them in our customer gallery.

The Metal Effect

Metal ‘sheeting’ has become a popular and hard-wearing choice for everything from kitchen splash tiles to office decor, but you can create a similar effect in your bathroom without going for the ‘factory chic’ effect. Beautiful textured copper-effect tiles can really warm a space and have the benefit of looking subtle and high-impact under different intensities of lighting. Of course a cool and clean feel may be your idea of the perfect bathroom and brushed stainless steel-effect tiles can also look fantastic against black or white tiles. It’s fair to say that there isn’t an abundance of metal tile retailers, but the beautiful floor above was created by Country Tiles, so take a look at their gallery to get an idea of how metal can work in your home!

Honeycomb Tiling

The perfect choice for those who worship attention to detail, a traditional hexagon tile is a beautiful choice for flooring with personality. It may look intricate, but it’s possible to achieve this effect by using sizeable tiles!

Slate Effect

A slate effect floor is a great way to inject some new life into an outdated suite as it manages to straddle that line between modern and traditional perfectly. To go for more of a ‘farmhouse’ effect then opt for a rustic flagstone effect; alternatively, the image above is a great example of how neat slate tiling can bring a simple bathroom suite to life.

Reliable Rubber

It’s fair to say this is something you’ll either love or hate. For some it’s practical and uber-modern, for others it’s reminiscent of industrial floors and clinical spaces. Whatever your personal stance, there’s one really distinguishing feature of rubber floors: colour. Lovely bright and bold colours that puts even the most stylish tiles to shame. If you can’t get on board with rubber floors in the domestic bathroom then it’s well worth looking into rubber tiles for a stylish commercial wash-room or retail flooring. A rubber floor has the obvious benefits of being easy to clean and it’s incredibly durable yet soft yielding, making it perfect for high traffic areas or areas where your customers will be on their feet.

Perfectly Parquet

Inject a little Parisian style into your bathroom with beautiful parquet effect tiles. Ceramic tiles (seen here) can be purchased from most bathroom tile stores, but if you’re looking for a traditional wooden effect then there are selected outlets which specialise in reclaimed flooring. If you think reclaimed materials make for an automatic bargain, then it’s probably worth doing your homework beforehand – if you’re not planning on fitting the floor yourself then it’s important to consider the cost of an expert fitter! We’ve selected Parquet-Parquet as the company with the most beautiful gallery!
