Interior design trends for 2017

A new year is just around the corner, bringing in resolutions and hopeful prospects of a better year for all. With that in mind, many will be wanting to bring a new lease of life to your home. We personally love an interior update (more often, than we should!) So we are always searching for the best and most recent design trends. Here is the forecast for what you can expect in 2017, start planning to get ahead! Take your big plans one step at a time and you will see a new house unfold before your eyes.

Colour change

Sometimes all you need is a lick of paint to bring your room back to life. We are loving the colours that are popping up this winter, incorporating all different styles to bring you a palette to suit all tastes. Navy is currently the most popular colour to grace our homes this season, whether you add a feature wall to your living room or add in subtle accents of this luxurious colour across your home with cushions, blankets, and chairs. Another top colour this winter is Grey, in any shade; bare branches and wisps of wood smoke provide inspiration to this trend. You can apply to the whole room through curtains, floors, and walls or simply add in some decorations to update your space. If you aren’t too fond of grey, you can always push the boundaries and go with silver (we all love a bit of bling!) Lastly, every year, Pantone release their colour of the year, this year, it’s a fabulously bright green; if you can handle the garishness, then go for it!

Cosy knits

With home accessories getting bigger and bolder by the year, it’s only natural that the knits get bigger. Chunky cable knits are adorning our sofas and beds this season, with cushions, blankets and even rugs sneaking into our homes. You may even find the odd pouffe for you to rest your feet on! Available in all of the seasons best colours, it’s a great excuse to snuggle up with a big ball of wool to keep you warm this winter.

Plants, plants, plants

There is no better way to bring life to your house, than to put some actual life in each room, by way of some gorgeously green plants. The trend that so many are catching on to, is adding windowsills of succulents to your rooms, or a beautiful hanging plant from the ceiling of your bathroom. The added greenery will bring a new lease of life to any dull or tired room. A glass terrarium filled with miniature cacti is also a great way to add some character to your house, with little to no effort when it comes to looking after them. If the idea of keeping plants alive is too much of a daunting prospect, then, of course, get your cheat on and opt for some faux plants to brighten your space.

Statement sofas

If you are a white wall kind of girl, the prospect of a feature colour wall may be a little bit too daunting, so why not opt for a beautifully coloured sofa which will set your room alight. With velvet being the fabric of the year, you have a plethora of wonderfully luxurious sofas at your disposal. Staying within the blue and green colour groups will guarantee a sophisticated, striking and stylish look. This update will leave your guests in awe!

Mirror, mirror, on the wall

A mirror is always a great addition to any room, it can be the focal point, simply a great accessory or a way to add depth and light to a slightly smaller room. Whichever way you decide to use your mirror, we have a great range to suit all tastes. Whether you want to bring your bathroom to light with one of our best selling Hollywood mirrors, giving the room a beautiful glow, or, you want a statement mirror to bring your room together, the range will provide to all tastes.

With all these design tips, we hope you are already making plans for a brighter home in 2017; adding just one simple thing to a room can make all the difference, so, go forth and decorate!
