Spring/Summer Hair Trends

Another Spring, another need for change. No-one wants the same hair all year round do they?! There is a big change up in the styles of hair to grace the catwalks this season. Of course, there is always the option of changing colour, but the real change will always be in the cut. Many designers took inspiration from past decades for this years style change-up, notably looking towards the 70s and 80s, with a hint of 90’s still lingering around for some. So what will you go with this S/S, explore the top trends for your barnet this year.

Plaits/Braids

With a plethora of ways in which you can style your plaits, there is endless enjoyment to be had experimenting with your hair. They can convey a tough and sharp look or be soft a relatively ethereal; a hairstyle that really accommodates to your mood and look on the day. From upside down plaits, to a braided loop or simply sticking to the good old fashioned French plaits, there are plenty of options to suit both your style and face shape. Sometimes, a small plait within your otherwise normal hair is all you need for a more interesting touch to a daily look. Get braiding ladies… it takes some practice!

Short is the new long

Like music to our ears, short hair is once again at the forefront of our style guidelines, which means manageable, easy and cooler days. New and revived cuts give you a smarter, defined look in minutes, but can be styled to hold a more casual look with a simple salt spray. Retro bobs, pixie cuts, sleek and to one side or simply shaved off are just some of the resounding styles we’ve seen on the catwalk.

It was acceptable in the 80’s

Crimped, coiled, curled, swept, flipped. It’s acceptable again and we are loving it! Think volume and get out your 80’s hair tools to create some Cher-esque magnificence! One style we can really get on board with is coaxing your beautiful locks into fabulously beachy waves with volume to boot, a sincere nod to the 80’s whilst keeping a stylish look appropriate for 2017.

Fringe-tastic

A fantastic way to frame both your face and your makeup, the fringe is officially back and in full force. Whether they be soft and shapely or short and blunt, they flooded the runways this season. You may already have a fringe cut back in, in which case, there are varying styles to try including embracing your natural hair texture and allowing natural waves to form. Alternatively, straight and sleek could be the way forward for you.

Making waves

We’ve mentioned 80’s waves; but of course, there are varying types of waves with which you can work into your hair. Choose your best weapon, from salt spray to curling iron and get your wave on. The epitome of wavey hair is of course the ‘surfer girl’ look, which is of course the natural and beautiful work of the sea, but can be mimicked by getting some sea spray on the go. If surfer girl style is a little out of your style range, then opt for a more refined and sleek wave.

There are enough styles here to keep you going throughout the summer months and we look forward to seeing some of your styles pop up on our Instagram (reflected in our mirrors of course!).
